Learning a few early life lessons
While still living in OKC, my parents moved to a subdivision where I think they bought a new home. I think we had been renting an older home in Oklahoma City. My parents had four kids by now. My older sister and I, and my younger sister and a younger brother. My Aunt also was married and living in OKC as well and started having children at a similar pace. I had three cousins by the time I entered kindergarten.
I remember: _
- getting shocked when I stuck something (maybe a rail from a train set?) into an electrical socket.
- fear when told that the third graders were going to join us on the bus once (we were all first graders), but I don't remember why or that anything happened.
- watching one of kids from the neighborhood lose a finger when another child slammed the lid on our outdoor grill closed while his hands were reaching for his puppy that had been placed on the grill (guess I knew some really bratty kids!).
- dad getting out his rifle to go Deer hunting. (I remember eating venison often early in my life. Not so much after I was five or so.)
